PreBuy: Used Phone Check — understand what information the app uses during a device inspection and how it is handled.
At a glance
PreBuy helps you test a phone's hardware and record its condition before buying or selling it. In the current version, inspection records are stored locally on your device. PreBuy does not require an account and does not send inspection records to an AGX Technologies server.
The app may request camera, microphone, or location access when you start the corresponding test. You control whether to grant those permissions. If you export or share a report, the copy you choose to send may be handled by the destination app or service.
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy applies to
PreBuy: Used Phone Check
(package name: com.agxtechnologies.prebuy),
published by AGX Technologies
("PreBuy", "we", "us", or "our").
It explains the app's data access, local storage, permission use, and report-sharing features.
2. Information processed by the app
To perform and save an inspection, PreBuy may process the following information on your device:
- Device and system details: manufacturer, model, device/product and build information, Android version, API level, security-patch level, available and total memory/storage, PreBuy version, and inspection timestamps.
- Inspection records: inspection labels, optional notes, condition checklist selections, test statuses and summaries, and test dates and times.
- Hardware and connectivity results: results concerning the screen, buttons, cameras, microphone, speakers, sensors, battery, vibration, Wi-Fi, cellular/SIM status or operator name, Bluetooth, NFC, and other supported diagnostic checks.
- Optional GPS test result: when you explicitly start the GPS test, the app requests a current location fix to check whether location services can obtain one. The inspection result records the test outcome and reported accuracy. The current implementation does not save latitude and longitude in the inspection record.
You can enter free-text labels or notes. Please avoid entering passwords, payment details, government identifiers, or other information that is not needed to document the device's condition.
PreBuy's current implementation does not intentionally access IMEI, device serial numbers, contacts, phone numbers, or account credentials.
3. Permissions and why they are used
Camera
Camera access is requested for a user-started camera test, such as viewing the front or rear camera and checking camera or flash operation. Camera preview frames are used for the test. The current implementation does not upload those frames to AGX Technologies or save them as inspection photos.
Microphone
Microphone access is requested only for the microphone test. A short recording is temporarily written to the app's cache so you can play it back and assess audio quality. Test cleanup removes the temporary recording. It is not included in the saved inspection record and is not uploaded to an AGX Technologies server. If the app is interrupted unexpectedly, temporary cache files may remain until Android or the app cleans them up.
Location
Location permission is requested when you choose "Acquire GPS Fix" in the location test. The app uses the Android/Google Play services location provider to determine whether a fix can be obtained and its accuracy. The app stores the test result, not the coordinates, in the inspection record. Google Play services may process information as needed to provide its location service, subject to Google's own terms and privacy practices.
Connectivity and nearby hardware status
PreBuy checks relevant connection and hardware status when you open the corresponding test. Depending on Android's version and permissions, this may involve Wi-Fi connection details, cellular/SIM state, mobile operator name, Bluetooth status, NFC status, and network connectivity. These checks are used to show and save a diagnostic result locally, not to build an advertising profile.
You can decline a permission or revoke it later in Android Settings. The related test may not work fully without it.
4. How information is used
The app uses the information described above only to:
- run the diagnostic tests you select and display results;
- save, review, compare, and delete local inspection records;
- create a PDF condition report when you request one; and
- support app operation and resolve errors during a test.
The current version does not include an account-registration workflow, an advertising SDK, an analytics SDK, or a developer-operated server workflow for collecting inspection records. This statement describes the current app version and must be updated if these practices or included software components change.
5. Local storage, disclosure, and sharing
Saved inspections are stored in the app's local database on your device. PreBuy does not send these inspection records to AGX Technologies servers in the current version.
You may choose to export a PDF using Android's document picker or share a report through the Android share interface. A report may contain device/system details, inspection results, condition selections, and notes. When you choose another app, recipient, storage location, or service, that recipient may process or retain the report under its own terms and privacy policy. Review the report before sharing it.
PreBuy does not sell your personal information. It does not otherwise share saved inspection records with AGX Technologies or another recipient from within the app except when you initiate an export/share action or when platform services operate as described above.
6. Retention and deletion
- Inspection records: remain in the app's local database until you delete an individual inspection or select "Clear All Local Inspection Data" in the app's Settings & Privacy screen.
- Temporary microphone recordings: are stored in the app cache for the test and removed during test cleanup. Android may also clear cache files.
- PDF reports: a temporary report created for preview or sharing may be stored in the app cache. Exported or shared copies saved elsewhere are controlled by the destination storage or recipient and may need to be deleted separately.
Because inspection records are stored locally, we do not maintain a separate PreBuy account or server database from which to delete them.
7. Security
PreBuy relies on Android's app sandbox and platform security features to protect information stored locally. Keep your device and Android account secure, and be careful when exporting or sharing a report. No device, storage method, or transfer can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
8. Children's privacy
PreBuy is a general-purpose phone inspection utility and is not designed specifically to target children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through a channel outside the app, contact us using the details below.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy if the app's features, permissions, software components, or data practices change. The revised policy will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date. Please review it periodically.
